Here at N Stuff Music we have a very wide selection of guitar cases and bags in order to provide optimum security and transportability. There is a variety of cases and bags available in terms of style, material, fit, and durability. So here are a few important things to consider when selecting a case.

Style: There are typically two different styles of guitar cases. First would be the gig bag. Gig bags are most typically fabric-made bags with zipper compartments to hold a guitar as well as accessories and other things. Be sure when selecting a gig bag that you determine if it has enough protection and padding to protect your guitar in the event of a small drop or knocking it against something. While the gig bag is typically going to be less protective it will be easier to transport by having straps and more handles and will also be more lightweight than a hard shell case. A gig bag will also mostly be more affordable than a hard case is due to softer materials and mostly being a fabric based design. Do not be fooled though by the soft materials of gig bags, a good quality gig bag is still going to be very protective for your instrument with its padding, transportability and protection.

The second style is a hard case. Hard cases are like your typical string instrument case in appearance with a solid exterior and soft interior where your instrument is placed. A hard case is as protective as it gets for a guitar due to their construction being made to withstand small amounts of impact. One of the great benefits of a hard case is that it can be packed in your car amongst other gear so long as nothing overly heavy is sitting on top of the case. With a hard case you do not have to worry about things bumping into your guitar because the case is protective enough to withstand a solid bit of small impact. A gig bag can withstand some small amounts of impact but much less than a hard case can.

Fit: Another very important detail to consider when selecting a case is fit. Some guitars come with a case made specifically for it upon purchase thus solving this problem immediately. However, for guitars that do not come with a case you need to be sure to select one with a proper fit. Without fitting properly a guitar that is too small for the case may shift too much during carrying which could cause damage over time to the instrument. A good and snug fitting case will ensure that your instrument is protected through not moving too much but not fitting too tightly that it isn't convenient to pull the guitar in and out of the case.

If you have a guitar that you can't find a case for don't worry! Bring it into N Stuff Music or tell us what the brand and model of your axe is online and our sales staff can come up with a selection of cases that will fit your guitar comfortably and ensure its safety. Being able to have the peace of mind that our instruments are secure is a wonderful thing and a good quality case will lead you much of the way.
