However, reduced thickness typically compromises strength. Rather than just using fewer plies to create thinner shells, TAMA optimizes each ply's thickness and cross-laminates them into an 8-ply 7mm configuration. This approach delivers a thinner shell that surpasses the strength of thicker alternatives. Starclassic shells feature maple, the preferred material among drummers today, renowned for its warm and articulate tone.
