Marshall AFD100 Slash 100w HeadIntroducing the AFD100 head The twin modes - #34 and AFD are based on two of Slash's legendary tones. The first is taken from Slash's 'modded' JCM800 2203 (complete with stenciled 34 on the side) that he has used siince the late'80's. The second provides an additional gain stage and is based on the infamous 'Appetite Amp', widely believed to be a modified 1959 Tremolo from the mid '70's. Both modes provide a unique, harmonically rich, natural valve-driven tone, ideal for thick crunchy rhythm and wild soaring solos alike. As well as reproducing what is regarded by many as the "Ultimate Rock Sound", the AFD100 also contains some truly awesome features, the first being Marshall's new electronic power attenuation. By adjusting the HT power and various internal parameters, this incredible feature allows guitarist to precisely adjust the percentage output of the amplifier (between 100% and 0.1%) without losing any of that sought-after AFD tone. No limited wattage choices to click between and no compromising on sound, just smooth and consistent power attenuation that is simple to use and make the AFD100 ideal for stage, studio and home use. A highly interactive EQ section of Presence, Bass, Middle and treble dictates the overall tone of the amplifier, with changes to one affecting the parameters of the others. This allows for a greater range of tonal possibilities, plus a more fluid and dynamic way for guitarists to define their sound. Five ECC83s provide the pre-amp's up-front tone with quad of mighty 6550 power valves/tubes driving the AFD100's power amp section. These two stages are goverend by the Gain and Master knobs respectively. By using these controls, and depending on your guitar and playing style, it is possible to dial in amazing high-gain Slash tones, classic Marshall crunch, biting bright cleans and everything in-between. Again, the overall output volume can be adjusted via the Power control. As with traditional single channel Marshall amplifiers, the AFD100 provides two sensitivity input options - one high and one low - with a 6dB difference between them. Either input can be used and is a matter of personal taste. Also, as the guitar signal is present at both inputs, it is possible to 'daisy chain' the AFD100 to another amplifier if desired.
